Objective
 
To help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) expand their businesses through participation in export promotion activities.
 
Eligibility
 
Ÿ   Business which are registered in Hong Kong under the Business Registration Ordinance (Chapter 310).
Ÿ     Fulfill Government's definition of the SMEs
(a) any manufacturing business which employs fewer than 100 persons in Hong Kong; or
(b) any non-manufacturing business which employs fewer than 50 persons in Hong Kong
Ÿ     SMEs must have substantive business operations in Hong Kong.
 
Scope
 
Ÿ   Grant to SMEs for their participation in trade fairs/exhibitions and business missions outside Hong Kong, as well as local trade fairs/exhibitions which are export-oriented.
Ÿ Export promotion activities must be organized by bona fide organizations/companies and directly relevant to the business of the applicants.
Ÿ   SMEs' participation must be as exhibitors of the trade fairs/exhibitions or as delegation members of the business missions.
Ÿ   Applicants must also be directly represented by their employers and/or employees in trade fairs/exhibitions/business missions in the name of the company concerned.
Ÿ    Expenditures incurred by SMEs in relation to their participation in the eligible export promotion activities will be subsidized:
  •  Participation fee charged by the organiser/co-organiser (e.g. rental charges for the stand/booth or registration fee of a business mission);
  • Construction and design fee of the stand/booth;
  • Fee for advertising in the catalogue and/or production of brochure bearing names of the applicant and the concerned activity which are solely for use in the said activity;
  • Travelling expenses of their employers and/or local employees incurred between Hong Kong and the city where the activity has taken place excluding expenses for in-town transportation and routes not directly related to the participation of the concerned activity;
  • Hotel accommodation expenses of their employers and/or local employees incurred during the period of the concerned activity excluding expenses of stay not related to the participation of the concerned activity; or
  • Fee for advertising in trade publications targeting export markets; or
  • Fee for advertising on the eligible trade websites.
 
Amount of Grant
 
        Eligible enterprises may receive EMF grant many times for participating in export promotion activities, but the total cumulative amount of grant must not exceed $1,000,000.  

      The maximum amount of grant for each successful application will be 50% of the total approved expenditures incurred by the applicant or $100,000, whichever is the less.
